    Thumbs up Drones

    Still manually flying your drone? Pah

    Backed this on kickstarter in June 2014. It arrived today.

    Can it see obstructions like trees and avoid them or will it crash?

    No, object avoidance is WPM at this level. There was a "rival" kickstarter drone going at the same time that said they could do avoidance and deliver sooner than the hexo. Airdog. I smelled a rat and backed Hexo. Airdog haven't shipped yet and their avoidance is shite if it works at all.

    I bet that felt uneasy giving what I assume was quite a lot of money via Kickstarter!

    Gotta believe, I've now got a bizzo drone "cheap". He who dares Rodney. I think if you do proper research on project you can mitigate the risks. Some of the other auto drones that are on kickstarter won't make it. There was one that went pop recently, the Zano. http://www.theverge.com/2015/11/19/9...on-kickstarter

    I received one for Christmas.

    Had quite a lot of fun flying it around - I can't see how much fun it would be unless you can fly it yourself, though?

    I've managed a few test flights now;

    One looks like an RC nerd. The other looks bad ass while he's doing radical stuff.

    Mine can follow, track, lead etc. - not that I'm sure I'd be totally comfortable with that anywhere other than somewhere completely open. I do think half the fun is actually learning how to fly it well.

    Everyone seems really interested in it, though. Every time I've taken it out, I've had several people approach me wanting to talk about it or have a look.

    Nice one Dan. I backed Hexo but had to cancel after some unexpected bills came in.

    The car club footage will be sick with this.

    Does it have manual flight mode at all? I am looking at getting a DJI Phantom 3 to do aerial shots of cars this year but I've not yet tried one out to see what the results are like.

    Not really exposed for the car, but you get the idea.
