Do they have a facebook page? Put a post on there as iowcc and engage them, see if they respond.

I have done, many times. A basic autotest doesn't have the wow factor. Stick the word drift into the mix and I'm hoping it may generate enough interest to get people out of bed before midday! Dc2.0 indeed!

I like the idea of inviting cars to come and show, you could have a prize for the best modified in show, a prize for fastest car of the day, or a combined, the fastest show car of the day
people could come and show, or come and compete or both.

As for ricers I think you will be lucky to ever convince more than one or two and at that sort of number its probably not worth the effort, I think your better off aiming at converting people before they get to that stage.

your right, you cant force people to compete, however, if somehow we can encourage them to at least come and watch, we may spread the word.
so many people I know talk the talk, buy all the go faster bits but never even show up to watch. if they could all park their cars with their bonnets up, talk cars and watch some mx-5s burning rubber round a car park, some may think about buying a second car so they can have a go.
I guess, is it just a case of inviting them to have a meet at the same time as we have an event? (space permitting)

Don't bother. They know we exist, they aren't interested. Don't waste energy trying to get them interested.
