    Default Getting Ricers to race

Toby and myself have discussed the question of how to get people with performance cars to take part in competition.

Is it a genuine case that road / show cars and race cars are completely different things and people will not want to risk dinging their pride of joy, nor would say I take my red mini to a show?

is there such a drift / performance / show car event the club could run - or would it all be a waist of time?

the question is, if we build it will they come?
Rules are for fools to follow and engineers to interpret

they love a show and shine, but couple a meet with something they can test their cars limits and you could do it. You should set up a simple figure of 8 course or something, something people dont have to memorise, set a nominal fee and couple it with a sho car meet and i reckon they would love it. Do a top gear leaderboard with a trophey for non member number 1 spot or something and i reckon you would be onto a winner.

I am always trying to get people to have a go.

The most common answer is "I don't want to hit a cone" what I would suggest is having a circuit with less cones. Maybe one to just go around rather than 2 to go through. I know it sounds remedial but this could help.

As Laurence said a top gear style leaderboard may help. I can speak to a few people that organise meets on the island and get that to interlink with a car club event/fun day like yesterday.

BAE is a prime location as there is a big enough car park and no curbs to hit.

basic problem is that ricers are generally closet homos & also take a look at some of the birds they hang around with - some of them look like barbie dolls with false eyelashes, boob jobs etc - you are slwas gonna struggle to get a blokeinterested n a woman like that to stop posing and get driving.

I believe this is the biggest issue. Spend thousands on their cars to make them mega epic race but are then too afraid to drive them in a fear of looking slow.

Also a large amount purely modify their cars for aesthetics and dont worry about driving them hard.

stance iow has over 100 cars at there static meets. Iowcc is not for everyone and I accept that but If we could swing even 5% of the people who go to these events it would be an achievement!

We can hold a normal autosolo, but run a drift class all within the confines of the msa. As with this weekend hold a non championship day with a very simple course to begin with working our way up.

Starting later is a good point. Not for the championship, but for a one off event should work okay.
    Rollin' for the bitchaz.
